When, Where, Why:
Die Niederländer hold the esteemed honor of being the first European country I set foot in back in summer 2007, albeit for an extended layover at Schiphol Airport. By summer 2009, when my roommates wanted a weekend trip, I figured any other place could be better, but Amsterdam was close enough to make the journey worthwhile.
In under 50 words:
Wooden shoes, windmills, the Red Light District, marijuana, the International Criminal Court, bicycle parking garages, canals, and a capital city under constant threat of flooding.
Experience:
I have many reasons to return but little desire as yet.
Food & Drink:
Stroopwaffles and tea. I know more exists, but honestly this is what I go to the Netherlands for. And you should do likewise.
